There is a lot of hype in the "Caribou Business". Add to this a deep and abiding misunderstanding about hunting migrating animals, conditions on the tundra and blatantly false expectations about what a competent and professional outfitter can and does provide and you have a recipe that often leads to frustration and disappointment. Outfitters provide adequate or superior facilities in specified controlled areas which in the past have generally hosted significant numbers of animals. No responsible or reputable outfitter can and should guarantee you will shoot an animal. 

Outfitters provide opportunity not meat. While caribou are plentiful, their range is so extensive (400,000 square miles) that despite our exclusive control of hundreds of square miles and numerous widely spread outpost camps, the caribou can and on occasion do keep clear of our territory. In such circumstances you will have limited opportunity for success!

Finally, be aware that video promotions often represent hundreds of hours of waiting for a few great shots. Animals die without blood in full sunlight only in hunting magazines. And large daylong migrations of animals occur in wildlife films (after much editing).
Hunting the Quebec Labrador Caribou is more like outguessing the weather. So far we are usually right - but stormy days are possible.

Year after year I am amazed by certain high volume outfitters and their exaggerated claims and offers of so-called guarantees, gifts, rebates and even further discounts for your return hunt after your unsuccessful first try with them, – how reassuring? Does this mean your first choice was an error?

These corporate style outfitters are easily distinguishable at most sport shows with booths manned by local commission motivated agents who have absolutely no direct authority or control of your hunt or your money, – good luck!
