Weather has not been too cooperative but the hunting and fishing has been pretty good so far! Just got back from our Helen's Falls Camp on the George River with the wife and got into some great Salmon fishing. A big run of big males moved in during the high tides of August and offered fabulous dry fly action on the surface. The fish averaged 7 to 9 pounds with a good many in the 10 to 15 pound range. Char now entering the lakes and Peter our manager at North Camp reports a good number of big char have arrived at the lower rapids.

Caribou coming in steady from the North with some animals making a 180 degree turn and heading back North and others keeping steady to a Southern course. Word is we have not seen the last of them and a good bunch of mainly bulls are heading our way. Caribou are certainly a strange bunch of critters that can't always make up their minds on what direction they will be taking from one day to the next. But so far it looks like we are going to have a great season.

All the Best,

Weather finally changing for the better with a lot more sunny skies lately. Camps just about ready with some final touches to do and bringing in the groceries before our first caribou hunters show up this coming Wednesday. So far things are looking real good with reports from our North Camp seeing a good many caribou coming in from the North and heading South-East – should be arriving at our other camps latter this week. Going up with the plane tomorrow morning to get a better look and see what they are up to. Peter Wellman, our manager at North Camp reported seeing a good number of big bulls among the herd traveling relatively slow which is great – don’t really want them to move too quickly through our area.

A good number of bears spotted during past couple of weeks with some camp damage but nothing too serious. Looks like we will have another great year with the ptarmigan – we are seeing quite a few birds – just starting to change colors. The Arctic Char are running up the rivers and the brook trout are now in full color.
