Newfoundland Moose & Woodland Caribou Capital

Newfoundland and its Game

Newfoundland, Canada's island province, covers some 42,000 square miles. The bulk of the inhabitants live along the rugged coastline. The interior is largely wilderness rich in game, including moose, woodland caribou and black bear. The moose were first introduced to the island in the early 1900's from the provinces of New Brunswick and Quebec.

Today the moose population on the island exceeds in density any other area in North America with over five animals per square mile. It also boasts the only opportunity for non-residents to hunt the Woodland Caribou.

Accommodations

Our camps are comfortable log/wood structures and feature wood stoves, running water, showers and a full-time cook preparing the best in home style meals. In addition, temporary rustic field camps for overnighting are provided when conditions demand and/or permit.

We control nine separate hunting camps strategically located within prime hunting territories. Selection of hunt locations is based on game distribution at time of scheduled hunt.

Access

The nearest major airports to our operation are located in Stephenville and DeerLake with regular daily airline service available via Montreal, Toronto, Boston and all major cities in theUSA.

For those hunters who wish to drive we are located approximately 50 miles north of the Port aux Basques Ferry Terminal offering regular service from the mainland.
