Another Great Year
Big Wind, but Bigger Bulls
Much time and preparation goes into planning every one of our caribou adventures, from the time of reservation until the moment that you return home with your game. We truly pride ourselves in making sure that you have the most hassle-free trip, from our detailed trip planners, to our reception in both Montreal and Kuujjuaq, we want you to focus merely on which bulls to harvest, and not the concerns of a traveler.
This past season proved to be a successful one, with a 100% opportunity of success in all of our camp locations. However this was no thanks to the unprecedented weather conditions which faced our hunters this past summer. Early August conditions were stable and temperatures were on the average, however as mid-August approached colder fronts began to invade the Ungava region leaving us, as well as the caribou, wondering what would be their next move. Nonetheless even in the high winds and cold conditions this season was yet another success to add to the books.
Lights, Camera, Action!
This season we were fortunate to have two film crews who joined us for some great caribou hunting. It has become somewhat of a tradition to host Buckmaster’s at our camps annually (since 1998). This year we were joined by editor in chief, Russell Thornberry and his crew. Russ also organized a group of archers who joined the team. There weeklong trip at Charlie Lake was a great success! But we will keep their adventure a secret until next summer when their trip is aired on the Outdoor Channel.
During the final week of the season we hosted Pat Reeve of Driven 24/7 (aired on Men TV) along with his cameraman Gene Bidlespacher for some hard-horn hunting adventures. Accompanied by my daughter, Sabrina, I decided that I was going to be the guide this week! The crew was fortunate to witness what seemed to be some of the final large migrations of the season. For days we witnessed thousands of caribou passing within feet of us, and the crew as well as the clients in camp that week harvested incredible animals. Then as if someone had just turned off the faucet, they were gone.
Our cold-storage reefer truck, based at the hotel in Montreal is used to store game overnight for our clients who are returning home. This service continues to be immensely appreciated by our clients; we continually invest in our operations with the singular objective of providing you, the client, with the very best service possible.
Over the past few seasons we've noticed a definite trend. We've been hosting
more and more woman hunters and they've been taking some outstanding trophy
bulls in their own right.
We welcome and encourage this change since we feel that a trip to the Ungava Region is more than just another hunt, it's an experience and an adventure in another land that should be shared among couples and family groups.
In addition to our Arctic Quebec trips, we also conduct highly successful Spring bear hunts over bait in Central Quebec, and moose and woodland caribou hunts in Newfoundland.
Whatever your intentions, we strongly recommend that you make your plans early to assure availability.
Fishing/Hunting Combinations
More and more of our hunters plan on an early season hunt/fish combo to take advantage of some world-class fishing for big brook and lake trout. Mid August to early September is the prime time to experience the best of both. Depending on your particular interest or preferred method of fishing, we have a variety of locations to best suit your requirements.
